At this time of year
This is the time of the year - after being at school for seven straight months - where I tend to become disillusioned, tired, mentally and emotionally. What are grades good for? Does anyone even care about me? Oh Spring Slump!
Now onto happy and fun news! This week I discovered that our student tickets can be used for professional performances at the McCarter Theater, yes PROFESSIONAL. On Wednesday I saw the dance group Mark Morris perform to some classical pieces (some bizarre sounds really...). Oh and I need to write a review of it for extra credit >.< Tonight I'm seeing my friend perform juggling - hopefully will be good, but fun nonetheless because I know someone in it! Tomorrow, I will be seeing a comedy show of Colin and Brad from Whose Line Is It Anyway (did you ever watch that when you were younger?). Anyways, that was the most hilarious improvisation comedy show ever! I am so impressed with the access to amazing resources we have here... I certainly haven't really been taking advantage of it, but I definitely will from now on.
To end with some thoughts:
Lately I have been reading a book called If You Meet the Buddha on the Road, Kill Him!
"She must reveal her imperfect, inconsistent, good/bad, weak/strong, all-too-human self to the rest of us, so that we may get to know her and become known to her. If some don't love her, no doubt others will. In any case, no one can take another's place. You win some, you lose some, and your losses are never made up to you. She will simply have to do without; like it or not, she must face her losses and her helplessness to undo them."
